BIO

For SP Motorsports Byrners Suzuki rider Cameron Taylor the path to racing success was a natural thing, with his ex-racer father Geoff owning a motorcycle shop setting him on two-wheels at four years of age.
Starting competition at local club days when he was eight, Taylor won his first Victorian State Motocross title at age 12.
Scoring two national junior motocross titles, Taylor progressed to the senior ranks in 1990, and claimed his first national crown in the 125cc 2-stroke class in 1993.
International success followed in 1994 with Taylor racing the Pan Pacific Supercross in Indonesia, Thailand, America, India, New Zealand, Australia and Japan, taking another series victory.
On the local scene, Taylor also stepped up to the premier 250cc 2-stroke class in '94 and began an incredible string of close second-place finishes in the national motocross and supercross championships, where he was denied numerous championship victories by a mere point or two.
Testing his skills on the tough US racing scene for part of the '96 season, Taylor impressively scored a number of top 10 results with very limited support.
Taylor was given the opportunity to represent Australia in the 1997 MX Des Nations in Belgium, racing to tenth place alongside Andrew McFarlane and Troy Carroll.
Battling against knee problems saw him sidelined through 1999 / 2000 returning to moderate motocross.
• 2001 - 2002 German SX series - 12 rounds - 5 weekends - won first two rounds - finished second.
• 2002 switched on to the 4-stroke.
• 03-04 Cam stepped back to Lites class and came second.
• 2004 Lites Supercross title.
• Won MX Lites in 2005.
• 06 second in MX / 2nd in SX.
• 07 - Started strong second but a massive crash in SX rd 2 set the tone for the rest of the season.
• Couple of highlights with second places in the mid season before Taylor broke ankle in practice.
• Sidelined again.
• Came second on his return at Oceania - Lites.
• Switching to 450 class going strongly.
