Published: 11/12/2009
The 2009 Monster Energy Super X Series finished with a bang in Brisbane in front of a monster crowd of over 24,500. The Suzuki RACESAFE Medical Team brought its largest team of the year in preparation for Australia's biggest ever supercross track and the thrills and spills for the Super X Series going down to the wire.
The Suzuki RACESAFE Medical Team and its onsite RACESAFE Mobile Medical Unit were a new addition for Super X in 2009 and a first for Australian supercross. Right from round one in Tasmania the riders and teams embraced these new facilities and services and fully supported this world class medical support and rider safety. Over the course of a long 2009 Monster Energy Super X Series, every team in the paddock at one point or another utilised the expertise of the Suzuki RACESAFE Medical Team.
A group of motorcycle passionate Medical Professionals, the Suzuki RACESAFE crew comprising of Emergency Doctors, Orthopedic Surgeons, IC Paramedics, Flight Nurses and Sports Physios - travelled to every round of the series and quickly became the trusted, familiar faces of rider care.
"The team have done an outstanding job, right from Launceston. Our work load has been nonstop and along the way we have been able to help so many riders get back on their bikes and keep riding. For the others that have been more serious, I am very proud of the specialised level of emergency medical care that we have provided and the positive outcomes for each of these riders.
“The crew all have fulltime medical jobs at the elite level of medical care and for them to volunteer their days off to looking after the riders of Super X is fantastic for everyone involved. I am very proud of the RACESAFE team and the medical response program developed in our first year. Of course, none of this would be possible without our wonderful Safety Partners and Sponsors, our thanks to them.
“On behalf of all of the Suzuki RACESAFE team, I would like to say that we have really enjoyed working with the teams and riders of Super X and we thank them all for making us feel so welcome in our first year,” said Simon Maas - RACESAFE Director of Emergency Services.
